The second beast is Shaul, an alternative spelling of Saul. His name is the 1332nd in the Bible (2 x 666 = 1332, the second beast). This is in agreement with the second of the four beasts in Daniel chapter 7. Daniel saw a bear with three bones in its teeth, representing the bare bones of the Christian religion, the results of the teachings of Paul (whose real name is Saul).

3. The names Abiathar and Ahimelech appear to have been accidentally transposed in 2Sm8:17 and 1Chr18:16. These verses should read "Abiathar son of Ahimelech" rather than "Ahimelech son of Abiathar". Their names are not included twice.

4. Jehu is referred to as both son (1Ki19:16) and grandson (2Ki9:2) of Nimshi. Jehu is not listed twice.

5. King Maacah (2Sm10:6) means 'king of Maacah' and is not included on the list.

6. Rimmon (2Ki5:18) is a Syrian idol.

7. The prophecy about Josiah (1Ki13:2) refers to king Josiah (2Ki21:24), so his name is not listed twice.

12. The RV Bible and other sources suggest that Cushi (2Sm18:21) should be Cushite. Therefore, it is not included in the list. The RV Bible also phrases 1Chr2:50 differently, giving a different family relationship for Caleb. Easton's Bible dictionary says that this is a possible interpretation of the text. However, the KJV version has been used.

13. The RV Bible gives "the captive" instead of Assir (1Chr3:17). Assir is included in the list.

14. The RV Bible excludes the following names. They are in the KJV Bible and are included in the list:

17. Eshtemoa son of Mered (1Chr4:19), and Eshtemoa son of Ishbah (1Chr4:17) are listed as two separate names. There is also a place named Eshtemoa.

18. "The household of Joab" (1Chr2:54) is a place name called Atroth-Beth-Joab in the RV Bible and is not listed.

19. The "children of Eden" (2Ki19:12) refers to traders or a marketplace. Eden is not a person.

20. 2Ki21:18 mentions the "garden of Uzza". Uzza is listed as a name.

21. Hiram of Tyre (1Ki7:13) is a different person to Hiram the King of Tyre. Both men are listed. Both men are also called Huram, but this alternative spelling is not listed.

22. Korah son of Izhar (Exo6:21) is listed as a different person to Korah son of Kohath (1Chr6:22). The three sons of the first Korah (Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph; Exo6:24) are listed separately from three of the brothers of the second Korah (Assir, Elkanah and Ebiasaph; 1Chr6:22-23).

23. Nahash the king of Ammon who fought against Saul (1Sm11:1) is probably the same as the one who showed kindness to David (2Sm10:2). Nahash is only listed once.

24. Azariah is either the son of Zadok (1Ki4:2) or the son of Ahimaaz (1Chr6:9) the son of Zadok (2Sm15:27). Azariah is only listed once.

25. There is some flexibility in the list where sources disagree. The following names could be included or excluded:
    • Ahimaaz (1Ki4:15) could be the same as Ahimaaz (2Sm15:27); both names are included.

    • Hushai (1Ki4:16) could be the same as Hushai (2Sm15:32); both names are included.

    • Zabud son of Nathan (1Ki4:5) could be the same as Zabad son of Nathan (1Chr2:36); all four names are included.

    • Goliath (2Sm21:19) is probably the same as Goliath (1Sm17:4); the second name is excluded.

26. It is possible that Ishtob (2Sm10:6) is a person, but it is probably a tribe (it means 'men of Tob') and is not listed.

27. There could be two Hararites called Shammah (2Sm23:11 and 2Sm23:33) and a third man called Shammah (2Sm23:25). The first Hararite appears to be one of the "three" mighty men and the second is one of the "thirty" mighty men. However, the name of the Hararite is listed only once.

28. Benhadad (1Ki15:18) has a son called Benhadad (1Ki20:1). There is a third person called Benhadad (2Ki6:24) who is king of Damascus during the time of Elisha and a fourth (2Ki13:3) who is the son of Hazazel.

29. Although Elishama (2Ki25:25) is "of the seed royal", he is not David's son because this part of the Bible is after the time of David.
