True Christian Political Party

If the British Government were to be replaced by a True Christian government tomorrow, what would it do? Perhaps the question is invalid because any form of government is not in line with following Jesus. However, I believe that changes should be made from within current social structures to be most effective.

Would it be a good idea to establish an Ideal Christian Society in Britain? If we wanted to do this, we would have to phase out the NHS, Police, Defense etc. and put a donation system in for social security and phase out taxes. The legal system would be abandoned and prisons would be abolished. Eventually, money would be phased out and replaced with mutual service as described in "The Ideal Christian Society". Finally, the government system would be dismantled.

Would this work? What would happen if we tried to do this? Phasing out the NHS would mean that many people would start dying because we would still be living in a selfish Western culture and spiritual healing would be difficult. Phasing out the police and legal system (a necessary step in becoming a Christian society) could lead to anarchy (everyone for themselves rather than everyone for each other) in a society filled with wealth and inequality.

Why would this happen? Because a lot of super-rich people suddenly got scared of God and tried to change themselves, but completely forgot about Africa and other poor nations. Trying to change this country into an ideal Christian society would actually be extremely selfish. This sounds paradoxical but it is true. What should we be doing instead?

We have a lot of resources in this country. All the defense spending over the years means that we have a well trained army which has been equipped with the ability to build as well as destroy. We have the ability to move large numbers of people and large amounts of equipment to anywhere in the world very quickly. Thus I am advocating a war against poverty, using much the same resources that one would use to fight a real war, except the methods would be quite different. The whole country would be unified in the same cause (much like how it was in the Second World War). Effectively, the UK would become a servant to the poor nations in the world and in doing so, would fulfill the demands of true Christianity. While doing this, our country could make changes to itself. For example, changes that can be made straight away include nuclear disarmament and the release of prisoners from prisons.

Clearly, those living in poor nations could collaborate with the building projects once they are trained, and they would then maintain the infrastructure. When one area is finished, then the war on poverty would move to another area. This would continue until all the poverty had been removed.

A war on poverty would give the British public the correct serving ethic, and by the time all the poverty had been removed, this country would also be able to function as an Ideal Christian Society. It would be much more difficult for a rich developed nation to make the required changes (and let go of all the wealth) than a poor nation (who have never had wealth).
